BUS TERMINAL CHURWALDEN – CONCEPT

BUS TERMINAL CHURWALDEN – CONCEPT

The new Churwalden bus terminal impresses with its unique, dynamic wooden construction in combination with a functional dual use: while the exterior serves as a modern terminal for regional bus transport, the interior is used for a Migros supermarket.
Characteristics of the bus terminal are vertically aligned wooden slats that curve upwards and outwards along the façade, giving the architecture an elegant and three-dimensional appearance. An interplay of light and shadow was the obvious choice for LIGHT ON in this design: The lighting concept sets the scene for the building as if it were subtly floating and appears different from every angle. The interplay of light with the wooden slats causes the appearance and dimensions of the building to change constantly as you stroll or drive past.
