In 2005, the University of Zurich initiated a design competition for the illumination of the entrance areas and passageways, which LIGHT ON succeeded in winning. LIGHT ON emphasized the archways of the historic building with bar luminaires discreetly attached to the walls which lend the architecture a spacious feel with their high proportion of direct and indirect light. The floor space has been illuminated on an even and glare-free basis, with the light walls serving as reflectors. The discreet light fittings are lightweight and almost floating, and convince due to their exceptionally high efficiency: with their low energy use, the lighting output in view of the specified standards is extremely good.
